Dear Members and Friends of the Museum,
A year ago, this month the Middleburg Museum of Hounds and Hunting North America opened a branch to the museum at Morven Park. New members joined, and many visitors and friends now enjoy both museums’ offerings. Numerous successful exhibitions and art sales events were held at both locations throughout the year.
Middleburg has featured Howard Allen & The Horse World photography exhibit, Sandra Massie Forbush Lifetime Art on Exhibit of oil portraits, Jean Bowman 60 Years Retrospective, and most recently, Cathy Zimmerman’s Out in the Hunt Country watercolors exhibition and sale. Between these major exhibitions, our galleries offered pop-ups of local artists’ sporting art for sale.
The 1988 Orange County Scurry by Jean Bowman with its “Who is Who” key, continues to be a draw for visitors to Middleburg.
Our museum has also become well known for its impressive selection of sporting bronze sculptures for sale featuring Katheen Friendenberg, Arthur Jedson Smalley, Marcela Ganly, John Griffin, Rosa King, and Jennifer Sims.
Next year is our 40th anniversary! In May of 1985, we opened in the Morven Park Mansion with several galleries and the Huntsman’s Room where many portraits of the honored inductees proudly hang.
Celebration plans for 2025 are underway for both our museums – Middleburg and Morven Park, with special events in May. The spring letter will include invitations for members and their guests. In the new year, we plan to publish a pamphlet of the historic budling also known as the Duffey House, circa 1810, we occupy in Middleburg.
As we are looking towards another successful year in Middleburg, we wish to express our deep appreciation for your continued patronage. Donations to our 501(c)3 non-profit organization are tax deductible and are accepted online at mhhna.org/donate or by check and mailed to MHHNA P.O. Box 1122, Middleburg, VA 20118. We count on your generosity to help support our museums’ next year’s programs.
Merry Christmas to all! We look forward to your visit in 2025 to celebrate with us at our museums in Middleburg and Leesburg.
Wish best wishes,
Nancy G. Bedford, Chairman
