40th Anniversary Spring Letter 2025 from the Chairman

Dear Members and Friends of the Museum,

This year marks the Museum’s 40th anniversary, which will be celebrated with exciting exhibitions at both museums starting with the upcoming festive Spring Event at Morven Park.

Our annual Memorial Day Weekend events on Saturday, May 24 includes a Huntsman’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and a Sporting Art Exhibition followed by a Reception at Morven Park’s Davis Mansion, in Leesburg.

Three distinguished honorees – Tommy H. Jackson, ex-MFH, Donald Philhower, and Larry Pitts, MFH will be inducted into the Huntsman’s Hall of Fame at Morven Park. Members and Friends of the Museum are invited to attend the Induction Ceremony on Saturday, May 24 at 3:00 PM.

The museum’s main gallery will feature an Exhibition and Sale of Sporting Paintings by Anita Baarns, Sandra Forbush, Susan Kelleher, Gail Guirreri-Maslyk, Carol McClees, Leslie Sorg, Sam Robinson, Linda Volrath, and Cathy Zimmerman on view until July 28.

A curated exhibition of sought after bronze sculptures by Charles C. Rumsey (1879-1922, American) will be available for sale in the ballroom on May 24 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM and also on Sunday, May 25 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A very limited-edition of all the works of art will remain on view for several weeks. Proceeds from all the art sales of this signature fundraising event are to benefit the museums’ operations.

We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at the 40th Anniversary Spring Event Celebration at Morven Park on May 24 and 25. For tickets to the May 24 reception, visit mhhna.org/events. For annual membership renewals and donations, visit mhhna.org/join, or mail a payment to MHHNA, PO Box 1122, Middleburg, VA 20118.

The Middleburg branch will continue the anniversary celebrations, so please watch for future exhibition invitations. In the months ahead, we are delighted to showcase exhibitions of fine sporting art by Anita Baarns, Heather St. Clair Davis, Nancy Milburn Kleck, Sam Robinson, and Cathy Zimmerman. Collectors of equestrian sculptures will view an impressive collection of horses, hounds, and foxes cast in bronze by John Griffith, Kathleen Friedenberg, Rosa King, Sue Lyman, Jennifer Simms, and Jedson Smalley.

Our non-profit 501(c)3 museum, the only one of its kind in North America, relies on the generosity of its members, donors, and sponsors. We are most grateful for your continued support as we begin our fifth decade of advocating for open space and preserving the rich heritage of riding to foxhounds.

My Warmest Regards,

Nancy G. Bedford
