If
you find merit in the Museum’s mission, there is one simple
reason to join: Without members, there is
no Museum. As a nonprofit organization, the Museum of Hounds &
Hunting North America relies on a variety of funding sources
for its maintenance and activities. Every form of support,
whether an individual membership or a substantial donation, is
appreciated in equal measure. But beyond the operating funds
that flow from subscriptions, each person who says “Yes” to
membership adds force to the collective effort to “preserve
the rich North American
heritage of hunting with hounds, for today and for the
future.” If you agree that this is a worthwhile mission, we
encourage you to join the
Museum dedicated to this effort.
When you join, you will receive tangible benefits in addition
to the personal satisfaction of knowing you’ve helped
preserve, protect, and
promote this irreplaceable facet of sporting life and culture.
Every membership level includes a pin, free admission to the
Museum, the annual
newsletter, a vehicle window decal, exclusive invitations to
events (including the annual Members Only Reception), and the
opportunity
to participate in Museum sponsored tours to other museums.
Additional benefits are then added to the basic package as the
membership levels increase. (See “Subscriptions and Levels of
Giving” for the details.)
A membership in The Museum of Hounds &
Hunting North America is fully deductible from taxable income
in accordance with the provisions of the Federal income tax
law. The Westmoreland Davis Memorial Foundation is a private
operating foundation as defined in Section 501 (c) (3) of the
Internal Revenue Service Code, as amended,
and to which donations are tax deductible under section 170 of
the code.

HUNT MEMBERSHIP AND BENEFITS |

|
A hunt membership is an annual gift to the Museum of Hounds &
Hunting North
America, which most hunts put in their annual budget. In
return, the hunt is listed
as a supporting member of the Museum and its button is
displayed with prominence
in the Hunt Button exhibit. The Museum will be pleased to
include the hunt’s
memorabilia in its archives, including pertinent information
about the hunt in its research
and databases, if desired. Hunt members will have their own
presence on the Museum
website. Huntsmen and their spouses from member hunts receive
an invitation to the
annual Members Reception. Individual benefits do not apply to
this category. |

In addition to your personal membership, gift subscriptions
for your family, friends, associates,
or fellow hunt members provide a distinctive opportunity to
both further support the Museum’s
mission while offering the benefits of membership to others. A
gift subscription shows you
care about the sporting heritage of North America and that you
know the recipient shares that
enthusiasm. It’s a thoughtful expression that will last well
beyond the day it’s received and will
provide the new member with many educational and social
opportunities throughout the year.

The Museum of Hounds and Hunting North America will work
closely with
both corporations and businesses to help provide
funding for the core activities of the Museum and the
protection of the Collection. Research grants, youth tours,
conservation and stewardship awards are but a few ways in
which these alliances can greatly aid the mission of the
Museum. We look forward to working with your corporate giving
goals for the year. Please telephone to discuss specific
sponsorship opportunities. 703-777-2414 or email

Annual Giving is another way to help the Museum. When
you give an
unrestricted gift to the Annual Giving appeal, you become a
vested partner
in the Museum’s mission. The member’s response is direct
recognition by
the donors of the importance of the programs and projects here
at the
Museum. For more information on ways to give to the Museum,

Exhibition Sponsorship is a way in which the Museum can
continue to
present interesting and diverse subject matter to the public.
Educational
exhibits bring the message of the Museum outside the walls of
the Museum.
Examples of Giving:
-Good Printers of Bridgewater, Virginia, prints the Museum
News
-Celebrations Catering of Sterling, Virginia, contributes to
the Annual Members Reception.
-Mr. Elias Guy of Williamsburg, Virginia, sends a “worthy” ham
to the Annual Members Reception
every year.
-An anonymous donor gave a $25,000 matching grant to the
Museum for the installation of the
Kluge Artisan Exhibits.
-The Sporting Gallery of Pennington, New Jersey, The Red Fox
Gallery of Middleburg, Virginia,
Robin Bledsoe of Boston, Ma., and Mathew Biscotti of Ohio,
have written articles for Museum
brochures and assisted the Museum in its research on specific
artworks, books and artifacts.
-Numerous volunteers have written, dusted, appraised, stirred,
served, greeted, bounced, built
displays, created exhibits and picked colors for walls.
-Many friends and members of the Museum donated and loaned
pieces of art from their personal
and family collections to the well received art exhibitions by
Franklin Voss, Paul Brown
and Richard Newton, the first three exhibitions in the
Museum’s American Sporting Artists
series.
- Artists Sandra Forbush, Anita Baarns and Gary Stinton have
given valuable artwork and copyright
to the Museum.
The Museum of Hounds & Hunting North America is a
nonprofit
organization that relies on a
variety of funding sources for its maintenance and activities.
This support allows the Museum
to share its collection with the public, the hundreds of
visitors from around the globe who visit
each year. Our members' continuing generosity supports the role
of the Museum by offering
exhibitions and displays, developing educational and
interpretive programs, strengthening the
collection, enabling our commitment to research and assuring
the Museum is accessible to our
visitors. As we strive to improve the Museum and fulfill its
mission, support is more important
than ever. We thank our members, donors, volunteers and
corporate and business sponsors
for their loyalty and enthusiasm, and look forward to working
with new friends of the Museum
as we look toward the future.
